Dry start to February
January went for a swim, February has stayed on the side ... so far
January 2025 was a bit of a washout with over 100mm of rain recorded during the month. It has been a dry and bright February so far, by contrast, with only 6mm in the first fortnight.
Temperatures, though, have been decidedly low. We have had a week now without a maximum above 6.5°C. Temperatures have reached highs each day of only just over 5°C, and only briefly. The wind has got up the last few days too, which has been reducing the “realfeel” temperature even more. All this will have been a big blow to households struggling to pay high energy bills, without the winter fuel payment, and probably without the cold weather benefit either.
The upside is that with the days getting longer again, we have the weather to see it with, at least for few more days. Maybe its time to get out and about in it? Happy half term holidays!
